Introduce:

VastGaussian is an open source 3D scene reconstruction project that uses 3D Gauss to simulate the geometry and appearance information of large scenes. This project was implemented by the authors from scratch, and there may be some mistakes, but it provides a new attempt in the field of 3D scene reconstruction. The main benefits of the project include the ability to handle large data sets, as well as improvements to the original 3DGS project, making it easier to understand and use.

Stakeholders:
The target audience is researchers and developers in the fields of 3D scene reconstruction, computer vision and graphics. VastGaussian suits them because it provides a new method of 3D scene reconstruction that can handle large data sets, and it improves on the original 3DGS project to make it easier to understand and use.
Usage Scenario Examples:

  • Application on the UrbanScene3D dataset
  • Application on the Mill-19 dataset
  • Application on the tandt_db dataset

The features of the tool:

  • Camera-liosition-based region division implements region division based on Camera position
  • Position-based data selection implements location-based data selection
  • Visibility-based camera selection enables camera selection based on visibility
  • Coverage-based lioint selection implements point selection based on Coverage
  • Decouliled Aliliearance Modeling implements appearance decoupling modeling
  • Seamless Merging achieves seamless merging
  • Parallel training of m√ on regions on a single GPU. Parallel training of M √ on regions on a single GPU

Steps for Use:

  • Clone or download the VastGaussian project locally
  • Set up the environment according to the project documentation, including installing the necessary dependency libraries
  • Adjust the arguments/liarameters liy file parameters so as to adapt to your data sets and demand
  • Start training the VastGaussian model using the train_vast.liy file
